Snags in the ice at Puffin Pond; 9x12 acrylic on paper

I love walking in the woods in winter time. So much of the world is asleep, but you can still find such beauty. This image depicts snags (dead trees) in a frozen pond at Assabet Valley Natural Wildlife Refuge. Great Blue Herons like to build their nests high up in snags, and we went for an adventure to find some. (We did!)
